The
Truth About Winning And Losing
by
George Zalucki, ACN Circle of champions Senior Vice
President
It
absolutely defies logic and sound intelligence for
a person to casually gloss over life altering insights
and instead continue the “patterns and thoughts”
that created their personal conditions of dissatisfaction,
failure, and lack of achievement.
Yet, that is exactly what people who fail to succeed
do. Why, one must ask, is this phenomenon so prevalent
in the masses? The answer is really quite simple.
They fail to employ and maintain the needed winning
attitudes and behaviors because they know at some
deeper introspective level that they are basically
fearful of the challenges which they never seemed
able to conquer in their past.
Add
to this the self-observation that:(a)
they also really know that they lack the “will”
and discipline to stay focused and (b) they also realize
they lack a success-worthy work ethic. The combination
of this self-awareness, (which is more correctly defined
as a brief glimpse of the truth of why they fail)
creates anxiety and emotional unrest which most will
scramble to relieve and thus they return quickly to
the familiar world of excuses and justifications.
Unless
this cycle is broken, one is destined to experience
a quality of life devoid of the good things life brings
tothose who do break this cycle. The truth is . .
. nobody is born a success, and nobody is born a failure.
The winners learn from other winners; are influenced
by their thoughts and actions; try their best to copy
their winning ways, and eventually join them in the
winner’s circle. The losers learn from other
losers; are influenced by their negative self-defeating
thoughts and actions and eventually join them in the
loser’s circle. “Why dream?” they
say. “Dreaming is impractical and the work of
fools!” “Oh, that motivational psychology
and positive thinking is a bunch of bunk!”
STOP
. . . I say! Observe the lives of those who think
like this. Does not their actions follow their thoughts
and attitudes? And are not the results they experience
in life directly the by-product of those very same
thoughts, attitudes and actions? If you are reading
this article with an open heart, and mind, combined
with a willingness to confront your own truth, it
can prove to be life altering for you. Remember that
a mental adjustment always precedes a financial adjustment.
So lets get our minds right so that we can get our
finances right.
Solomon
said over 3000 years ago . . . “Unless the people
dream they perish”. The implicit, underlying
basis for this instruction is clearly that the “Dream”
he refers to is not an “idle wish” but
rather a firm goal or objective to be achieved. However,
if one dreams without faith in the dream’s fulfillment,
the dream is reduced to just another “idle wish”
and therefore can never become a reality.
Dorothea
Brande wrote a great book titled “Wake Up and
Live”. The entire book was reduced to one of
the most powerful success instructions I’ve
ever come across. “Act as though it were impossible
to fail and you won’t fail”. Ghandi offered
us an equally powerful insight when he explained the
role of belief and faith in reaching a goal. Let me
paraphrase, “If one advances toward a specified
objective or goal, and does not lose ‘belief”
in its attainment; even though they may start their
journey without the necessary tools or knowledge of
how to get there; if they keep their faith and focus
they shall most assuredly obtain the required tools
and knowledge along they way.”
After
thirty years of working in the field of motivation
and psychology, I can attest to the wisdom, truth
and power of these insights.
Let me add another truthful insight. “The road
to success is often laden with difficult obstacles.
If there were none to conquer or endure, we’d
all be rich and happy.”
Loser...
If
I list for you the reasons why people fail, you can
learn what NOT to do!
You can then decide to do the opposite, which over
time, will guarantee your place in the winner’s
circle. Here is why people fail:
1)
They
lack understanding of what success demands of
them.
2)
They
lack the motivation to learn what is required.
3)
They
lack the necessary self-discipline.
4)
They
constantly offer excuses and rationalizations
to avoid the uncomfortable aspects of personal
growth and change.
5)
They
lack integrity with self and others.
6)
They
seem committed to maintaining a poor self-image.
7)
They
are strongly inclined toward negative thinking
and attitudes.
8)
They
lack self-responsibility.
9)
They
lack the will to sustain their efforts when
disappointments come their way.
10)
They
have the habit of projecting their failures
and shortcomings on others.
11)
They
have a low tolerance for emotional, physical
or financial discomfort.
12)
When
exposed to the wisdom, instructions and attitudes
of the winners in life, they choose instead the
influences and thought patterns of the masses
who are stuck in lives of quiet desperation devoid
of dreams.
Winner...
1)
I
will make and keep my commitments.
2)
I
will find the right people who can help me.
3)
I
will look for an answer in every problem.
4)
I
will give up “trying” and simply
do.
5)
I
will make it okay to be wrong and make mistakes.
6)
I
will create my own “good luck”.
7)
I
will not be afraid to lose before I win.
8)
I
will do it now!
9)
I
will be who I am and become what I was meant
to be.
10)
I
will accept that all things are possible.
Now
you have it all in one short article! The rest is
up to you!
Each
one of us chooses the road we will travel, the people
we associate with and the thoughts, attitudes and
actions we engage in. Winners simply make different
choices than losers. They think different thoughts,
believe different things, adopt different attitudes
and therefore produce different results in their lives.
And
that’s the truth about winning and losing. And,
as always, the choice is uniquely yours…
